Mel Gibson's temper and anger problems is his main sin. These all pull into the other horrible things he's done such as make horrible remarks about groups of people ( Jews, Homosexuals, Women, African Americans, etc.). He is also a raging alcoholic and has beaten his wife.
Celebrity background
Gibson was born in Peekskill, New York and moved with his parents to Sydney, Australia when he was 12. He studied acting at the Australian National Institute of Dramatic Art. He was the 6th of 11 children born. He attended St. Leo's Catholic College in Wahroonga, New South Wales. He took up acting only because his sister submitted an application behind his back. The night before an audition, he got into a fight, and his face was badly beaten, an accident that won him the role.
Backlash
Despite this problem, Gibson gained a reputation in Hollywood for professionalism and punctuality such that Lethal Weapon 2 director Richard Donner was shocked when Gibson confided that he was drinking five pints of beer for breakfast.
In 1991, many articles from the Sunday Mirror were published about what Gibson shared at AA (Alcohol Anonymous) meetings.
In an article written in August of 2006, Gibson's mini series on the Holocaust (Flory: Survival in the Valley of Death) was cancelled.
Public perception
He's not too appealing to the public, they think very lowly. An author of a blog said "Mel Gibson use to be a legend. A Patriot. The man was, in effect, William Wallace, for crying out loud. Now and days, Gibson is better known as the screaming, anti-semetic psychopath on the verge of burning the house down"
Repercussions
Mel Gibson's been drinking since the age of 13. He's manic depressive and was banned from driving in Ontario for 3 months in 1984 when he rear ended a car in Toronto while drunk.
Tape recordings of Gibson giving horrible insults and domestic abuse were released on the internet.
Aftermath (reintegration back into society?)
He has never made it back into acting following his past issues concerning Oksana Grigorieva and he doesn't really care if he did or not.
He has come to regretting some of the things he's said in the past.
